Taiwan: Is It Key to the Continuing World Order?
Taiwan matters for the world not only because of its critical position in the relationship between China and the United States but also because of its achievements in promoting economic development, building a vibrant democracy, and safeguarding public health.
In this online panel organized by London-based The Democracy Forum, Syaru Shirley Lin of the Center for Asia-Pacific Resilience and Innovation (CAPRI) discussed the multifaceted governance and policy challenges facing Taiwan. She described how many of these challenges are common to other high-income societies in the Asia Pacific and how they can best be addressed by promoting interdisciplinary policy research. As the first INGO to be founded in Taiwan in decades, CAPRI was established in 2022 to be an independent, nongovernmental, nonpartisan think tank enabling Taiwan to generate and share insights on policy and governance to help other societies become more successful and resilient.
